Pacific Airshow Gold Coast (PAGC) today announced the first air displays to feature at the air show in August.
According to PAGC, the 2024 event is aiming for greater heights than the inaugural event last year, with a mix of new and returning headliners announced today.
“We couldn’t be more excited to welcome everyone back to Pacific Airshow Gold Coast for our second year and are honoured to host the Australian and US military participants announced thus far," said PAGC director Kevin Elliott.
"2023 was a massive success, selling out completely. We are working to make this year’s event even bigger and more exciting both in the air and on the ground in Surfers Paradise.
“Pacific Airshow isn’t just about adrenaline pumping aviation, it’s an amazing family day out with activities for all ages and we have kept it affordable with family of four passes starting at $135 for the day.
"This first announcement of performers already packs our schedule with world class talent — but stand by as we have more to come!”
Key performers announced today include:
- USMC MV-22 Osprey
- RAAF 100 Squadron heritage warbirds
- USAF C-17 Globemaster
- US Navy Leap Frogs
- Gravity Industries jet packs
- Matt Hall and Emma McDonald
- T-33 Shooting Star
- Freedom Formation team
- The Screaming Diamonds
“This is the first time Gravity Industries will show off their innovations at Pacific Airshow and we are stoked to bring it up close and personal for the Gold Coast to see, "Elliott said.
"Gravity Industries aligns strongly with Pacific Airshow’s commitment to showcase the future of mobility technology, right here in Queensland."
PAGC specifically highlighted its two-year project to import the first ever T-33 Shooting Star jet into Australia, making its debut this year at the hands of experienced T-33 pilot Greg Colyer.
“The T-33 jet is special because it is the one and only T-33 in Australia, possibly ever, and it is painted in the original Thunderbird [USAF display team] livery from their founding in 1954,” Elliot said.
PAGC will once again enjoy the support of the nearby Gold Coast Airport, from which many flying displays launched last year.
Amelia Evans CEO of Queensland Airports Limited, owners and operators of GCA, said the airport was proud to partner with the Pacific Airshow for a second year.
“Major events like this shine a light on the Gold Coast as a destination, as well as drawing attention to the aviation industry as a whole and the variety of careers available,” Evans said.
“As a child, I loved watching planes and know that during the airshow young aviation enthusiasts will be experiencing the same excitement, inspiring the next generation to take up a career in aviation,”
First held last year, PAGC is scheduled for the sea front at Surfers Paradise in QLD on 16-18 August this year. More information is on the PAGC website.
